Student Yuan Tang was honored during the Third Annual Awards Ceremony and Reception of the Philadelphia Bar Association’s Public Interest Section on Dec. 9.

The award recognized Tang’s commitment to providing equal access to the law.

As an intern with Bridges Across Borders Southeast Asia, Tang spent seven weeks in Cambodia seeking to protect families from forced evictions and assisting an organization that offers vocational training to adolescent girls.

Closer to home, Tang has been involved with the school’s Marshall-Brennan Constitutional Literacy Project, through which she has gone to Philadelphia high schools to teach teens about the power of the U.S. Constitution and its relevance in their lives.

She founded and is president of the Asian Pacific American Law Student Association and The Just Society. She is also the student leader of the school’s Haiti Social Justice Project and will be a part of the delegation that travels to Haiti in the spring to help people living in the tent cities outside of Port-Au-Prince.
